Whitchurch Away

Last night, Dinas travelled to Whitchurch in their penultimate game of the season. There are 4/5 teams still chasing the promised land, so it was all to play for. The home team raced into a 4 shot lead after 5 ends leading on 3 rinks and their barmy army were in full voice. By the 10th end not much had changed but a extra 2 shots meant that Whitchurch were 6up. By the 15th end Whitchurch had extended this to 14 shots and looked on their way to taking all 14 points available, with 3 rink up and only one trailing by 2. But as the dark came Dinas's halftime snack of carrots did start to kick in but not fast enough. With 3 rinks left on and the only the floodlight scoreboard shining Dinas fought back, the rink of T Bratcher, C Daw, R Bowen C Chapman picked up a 5 on last end - all be it with a bit of help from the skies to get 2 points available on his rink and leave the game in the balance. The rink of Matt Woodcock was next to finish in what a great tussle all the way throughband just managed to run out winners 18-15. This left the whip who had let a early lead slip against the very talented Malcolm Mitchell needing a four on last end to win the game, having picked up a four on 20th end to lead 18-17 it wasn't impossible. But the whip just fell short and Whitchurch picked up a one and a fully deserved win.

This makes a interesting end to the league and a cracking season for all the teams still involved.
